Description
This report examines the process of school leaving and the transition from school to post-compulsory education, training and the labour market. Young people who do not stay on to complete senior secondary school are a major focus of the study. Factors considered were influences of school non-completion, post-school experiences of these youth and how socio-demographic and human capital factors influence their labour market activities. The study found a majority of secondary school non-completers left school for work-related reasons or to take up an apprenticeship. This report, published by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), is part of the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) research program.
