| Title: | Gender differences in educational and labour market outcomes |
| Authors: | Kylie Hillman, Sheldon Rothman, Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) |
| Publication date:  | 1 July 2003 |
This brief focuses on the differences in the numbers of young males and females on a range of educational and labour market outcomes. The results suggest that although there is a small but statistically significant difference between the average levels of reading comprehension of male and female students, this difference may not extend beyond school, with males on average continuing to progress through the education system and/or into the labour market to better-paid occupations than their female counterparts.
